CWC Family

Here at Christway, we believe God created the family. The Bible tells us that God gave the responsibility of teaching to the parents, so we emulate that in our instructors. “You shall teach them to your children, speaking of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. (Deuteronomy 11:19) We have a dynamic set of teachers, rotated bi-weekly to prevent burnout, who enable us to keep the children excited about learning.

Several goals we have set are important in teaching our children. First, we want to introduce them to the Bible. We encourage our children to read their Bible, not just at church, but at home as well. This is done by breaking down stories from the Bible, bringing the story to a level the children can understand, and showing the children God’s awesome presence in each individual. The Bible is a living document, and each time one reads it God reveals more and more of Himself.

Second, we want the children to know that God is here, He’s alive, and He’s always been here. From the time of creation to today, we can see God’s hand in history, or as we call it “His-Story.” Our hope is that by showing the children God’s influence on our past leaders, it will enable them to recognize His presence in their lives today. As a result, the children’s relationship with God will solidify, and at the same time, we are building “our” future leaders.

And lastly, we want to prepare the children for their next step in life, becoming teenagers. Peer pressure is at its extreme during the teenage years. If we can help the children build a strong relationship with God while they are still “kids”, it will help to relieve some of the peer pressure as teenagers. We are building young teenage Christians and soon to be young Christian adults.

Additionally, we write our own curriculum here at Christway. Our themed units include: “Noah’s Ark”, “Jonah and the Whale”, “David and Goliath”, “Daniel and the Lion’s Den”, “Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego”, “Thanksgiving”, “Jesus is Coming”, and “History or His-Story”. At the completion of each theme, the children are treated to a field trip relating to the unit. For example, after “Noah’s Ark” we visited to local zoo. For “Jonah and the Whale”, students were treated to a swim party. And, our repertoire of lessons continues to expand.
