Core Beliefs of Christway Church

We Believe in one God, revealed as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

  • "7 For there are three that bear witness [a]in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one."

- 1 John 5:7

  • "14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth."

- John 1:14

We Believe that our lord Jesus Christ was begotten, not created, very God of God, truly God and truly man. He was born of the virgin mary, lived a sinless life, died a vicarious and atoning death for the sins of the world, RESURRECTED bodily for our justification, and now resides in glory until all things be put under his feet.

  • "34 Then Mary said to the angel, 'How can this be, since I [a]do not know a man?' 35 And the angel answered and said to her, 'The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God.'"

- Luke 1:34-35 NKJV

  • "20 Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God. 21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him."

- 2 Corinthians 5: 20-21 NKJV

  • "3 All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is by his great mercy that we have been born again, because God raised Jesus Christ from the dead. Now we live with great expectation,"

- 1 Peter 1:3 NLT

  • "19 When the Lord Jesus had finished talking with them, he was taken up into heaven and sat down in the place of honor at God’s right hand."

- Mark 16:19 NLT

  • "25 For Christ must reign until he humbles all his enemies beneath his feet."

- 1 Corinthians 15:25 NLT

we believe in the absolute inspiration of the Holy Scriptures, which were subsequently accepted as truth by the early Christian Church.

  • "15 and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. 16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for [a]instruction in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work."

- 2 Timothy 3:15-17 NKJV

We believe that man was made in the image of god and is the crown of creation. he is now, by reason of the fall, spiritually depraved and alienated from his Creator. Apart from God's grace, he has no ability to attain his high calling.

  • "26 Then God said, 'Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over [a]all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.'”

- Genesis 1:26 NKJV

  • "2 But your iniquities have separated you from your God; And your sins have hidden His face from you, So that He will not hear."

- Isaiah 59:2 NKJV

we believe that justification is by grace through faith in our lord's sacrifice on calvary.

  • "21 But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, 22 even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all [a]and on all who believe. For there is no difference; 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 being justified [b]freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus,"

- Romans 3:21-24 NKJV

we believe that all of god's people are to be buried with christ in the waters of baptism, subsequent to conversion.

  • "19 Go [a]therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,"

- Matthew 28:19 NKJV

  • "4 Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life."

- Romans 6:4 NKJV

we believe that the holy spirit indwells all believers, conforming them to the image of Jesus christ.

  • "16 Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?"

- 1 Corinthians 3:16 NKJV

  • "29 For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. 30 Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified."

- Romans 8:29-30 NKJV

we believe in the priesthood of the believer. This is to say all people born of god have equal status before, and direct access to their lord.

  • "5 you also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ."

- 1 Peter 2:5 NKJV

  • "34 Then Peter opened his mouth and said: 'In truth I perceive that God shows no partiality.'"

- Acts 10:34 NKJV

we believe that those who are called by the name of christ should depart from iniquity. understanding that salvation from the penalty of sin only begins the process of redemption. We acknowledge that one work of the Holy spirit is to create in us the character of christ.

  • "19 Nevertheless the solid foundation of God stands, having this seal: 'The Lord knows those who are His,' and, 'Let everyone who names the name of [a]Christ depart from iniquity.'”

- 2 Timothy 2:19 NKJV

We believe in the literal second coming of our lord, the literal rule of christ upon the earth, the resurrection of the regenerate to eternal life and the unregenerate to eternal damnation and the ultimate victory of the kingdom of god.

  • "9 Now when He had spoken these things, while they watched, He was taken up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight. 10 And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel, 11 who also said, 'Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven.'”

- Acts 1:9-11 NKJV

  • "2 And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, Some to everlasting life, Some to shame and everlasting [a]contempt."

- Daniel 12:2 NKJV
